Which crypto prop firms allow bots?

Short answer

Six of the eight crypto programs we checked allow bots or EAs with conditions, among them Tradeify 247 and HyroTrader, which connects to Bybit by API. Kraken Prop takes manual orders only, and Breakout states no bot rule. Seven ban or restrict HFT, and all eight run their evaluations on simulated accounts.

Some of these firms are crypto specialists. Others offer crypto CFDs, contracts that pay out on the change in a coin’s price, next to forex and indices. We read each firm’s own pages on 30 September 2026, and “not stated” means we found no rule there.

Bots through the Bybit API

HyroTrader and Crypto Fund Trader both link to a Bybit account with an API key, which is as close as this group gets to trading a crypto exchange with your own code. HyroTrader’s evaluation doesn’t use Bybit’s live market, though. Its setup guide tells you to “Ensure you are connecting to the Bybit Demo API, not the live environment, when trading a demo challenge.”

HyroTrader is the more open of the two about bots. You “can generate your own API key and link it to your custom trading bot”, although “using third-party applications is not supported during HyroTrader challenges”. Its home page talks of “real market execution with live order books”, while its FAQ says all three stages run in “a simulated demo environment”, and that “After proving consistent performance, traders may be offered the opportunity to trade real capital.” HyroTrader’s own rules deal with the gap between demo and live fills. Its Bybit demo rules say “Bybit’s demo environment does not simulate real slippage, liquidity depth, or market impact”, and that “Only 40% of profit generated from flagged trades may count toward the profit target.” Its CLEO platform “does not support direct third-party integrations or algorithmic trading through external applications” (CLEO FAQ).

At Crypto Fund Trader, the API key connects your Bybit sub-account to its dashboard. The key “must remain active and unchanged throughout the entire evaluation period”, and “Disconnecting, modifying, altering, or interfering with the assigned API connection is strictly prohibited.” The FAQ doesn’t say whether your own bot may trade the same sub-account. It does say which bots it won’t accept, under the heading “prohibited EA types”.

EAs on crypto CFDs

FTMO, FundedNext, FundingPips and The5ers treat crypto like any other CFD, so their EA rules apply unchanged. FTMO allows “discretionary trading, algorithmic trading, EAs, etc.”, as long as an EA doesn’t cause more than 2,000 server requests a day. FundingPips and The5ers both want the code to be yours. The5ers says “the trader must own the source code of the EA”, and FundingPips asks for proof such as “Source code files (uncompiled .mq5, .mq4, or equivalent platform source)”. FundedNext allows EAs on MetaTrader accounts below $50,000, for an extra fee, and not at all on cTrader or Match-Trader.

FundingPips’ crypto list is short: “BTCUSD (Bitcoin vs USD), ETHUSD (Ethereum vs USD)”. All four firms run their evaluations on simulated accounts. The5ers is the only one of the four that describes its funded accounts as “connected to our pool accounts”, which it says are “connected to our LPs”, its liquidity providers.

Kraken Prop and Breakout

Kraken Prop and Breakout both sell crypto evaluations, and both place funded traders with Payward Oceanic Ltd. Breakout’s help centre says that company “governs your funded account”, and Kraken names it as the provider of Kraken Prop’s capital.

On Kraken Prop there is no way to connect a bot: “No, Kraken Prop does not currently offer API access. This applies to both evaluation and funded accounts. All orders on a Prop account are placed manually through the trading interface.” Breakout’s help centre has no rule on bots or APIs. Its funded-account rules ban “Exploiting pricing or latency errors on the Breakout Terminal or a liquidity provider’s platform” and “Using one trading approach to pass your evaluation and a different one in your funded account.”

The two brands describe the funded account differently. Breakout answers “No. Your funded account trades on simulated capital, not real capital.” Kraken’s support page says “After activation, you trade with real funded capital and can request payouts of your share of the profits.” Ask which applies to your account before you buy.

Where the HFT line falls

Two firms give numbers you can code against. Tradeify 247 says “All trades must be held for at least 20 seconds”, a rule that “prevents high-frequency scalping strategies that can be disruptive to liquidity providers”. FTMO counts messages instead, and bans EAs that cause more than 2,000 server requests a day. The5ers looks at how long most trades last, and HyroTrader bans HFT along with “Any strategy designed to exploit, manipulate, or gain an unfair advantage from our systems, infrastructure, execution environment, pricing, latency, or risk management mechanisms”. Futures firms draw the same lines, by hold time or by message count, in their HFT rules.

If you want an exchange-listed crypto contract, some futures firms offer one. Topstep’s product list includes CME’s Micro Bitcoin (MBT) and Micro Ether (MET) futures, and its paid API allows bots in the Trading Combine and Express Funded Account, though “All positions must be closed by 3:10 PM CT every weekday.” Both of those accounts are simulated, and the API stops at the live account.

Digital-asset derivatives at ROMER

ROMER, our funded-trader program for algorithmic and high-frequency traders, covers futures and digital-asset derivatives on the exchange. Your algo runs on our hardware inside the exchange’s data centre, and bots, algos and HFT are allowed at every stage, within the exchange’s message limits. We monitor every order, and manipulative trading such as spoofing isn’t allowed.
