About ROMER

Last updated

ROMER is a funded-trader program for algorithmic and high-frequency traders. Bots, algos and HFT are allowed at every stage, and trading by hand is allowed too. Each algo runs on our hardware inside the exchange’s data centre, the arrangement the biggest trading firms use, instead of on a home computer or a rented server.

An algo passes two simulated stages first: an Evaluation, then a Verification on new trading days. The best then trade our own capital on the real exchange, and the trader keeps 80% of real profits. Funding isn’t guaranteed, and our terms are planned and may change. How it works has the detail.

Why we built it

Most funded-trader programs turn algo traders away. Their accounts are simulated, and a simulator can’t keep up with a fast trader, so fast strategies win fills a real market wouldn’t give them and the firm pays for it. That’s why so many of them ban bots and HFT. We built ROMER around the traders those rules exclude, on hardware fast enough that the market, not a simulator, decides who wins.

Who we are

ROMER is a program of Entity Capital, LLC. Our team has built low-latency trading systems at a prime brokerage and has traded through funded-trader programs, so we know the rules this site documents from the trader’s side as well as the engineering side.

The name comes from Ole Rømer, who measured the delay of light in 1676. Latency is the whole game here.

What we publish

We publish help articles on prop-firm rules, comparisons with other firms and research on what evaluations cost and how they’re structured. Every page quotes the firms’ own rules and says when it was checked. How we research explains how, and where we have a stake.
