TradeDay vs ROMER

Short answer

TradeDay suits futures traders who want a monthly evaluation with no activation fee and a set route from Funded Sim to Funded Live. Bots are allowed on its supported platforms, but it offers no API access, bans VPS use and prohibits strategies above 200 trades a day. ROMER is built for high-frequency algos, run on our hardware at the exchange.

Quick Pay and Fast Pass

TradeDay LLC is a futures prop firm based in Chicago. Since TradeDay 2.0 launched on 29 May 2026, it has sold two evaluations, Quick Pay and Fast Pass, both billed monthly with no activation fee. At list price on its pricing cards, a 50K costs $131 a month for Quick Pay with an intraday drawdown, $175 for Quick Pay with an end-of-day drawdown and $189 for Fast Pass.

On every 50K the target is $3,000, the drawdown $2,000 and the position limit 5 contracts. There is no daily loss limit, and TradeDay describes the drawdown as its “one rule”. Quick Pay wants at least 5 trading days and a consistency rule: “no single day can account for more than 30% of your total profits” (What is Quick Pay?). Break it and “you do not fail the evaluation (but your profit target does increase)”. Fast Pass relaxes consistency to 45% and shortens the minimum to 3 days. Positions come off before the bell: “Exit all positions 10 minutes before the close. No holding positions when the market closes.” TradeDay’s home page gives a trader pass rate of 36% for its evaluations from January to June 2026.

Several of TradeDay’s pages disagree on these basics. The objectives article asks for “a minimum of 5 trading days”, while the Terms and Conditions say traders must “reach profit targets set for you over a minimum 7-day period”. For Fast Pass, one article says “For FastPass accounts the minimum number of trading days is 3”, and What is Fast Pass? says “There are no minimum trading days in the evaluation”. The help centre’s account-size table also lists the 50K Quick Pay intraday plan at $125 and the 50K Fast Pass at $180, below the $131 and $189 on the home page.

Automation at TradeDay, and its limits

TradeDay allows bots, inside a fence. Its automation article says “To use an automated trading system, you must use one of the platforms we support: NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView, Jigsaw and Quantower.” Bought strategies are out: “Algos and Bots purchased from a third party and employed by the trader are forbidden. If multiple users are making the same trades, then all the accounts will be shut down, and the users suspended.” There’s no way around the platforms either: “We do not make platform APIs available to traders,” and “TradeDay does not expose the Tradovate API to allow traders to connect automated trading systems directly.” Which prop firms allow API trading sets this against other firms’ rules.

Speed has a number attached. The list of prohibited practices includes “Using automated trading systems designed to scalp at an extremely high frequency. We do not allow strategies that produce more than 200 trades in a day.” The scalping article rules out “Strategies that trade in a few seconds, designed to capture just a couple of ticks at a time”, and TradeDay says traders who pass while “engaged in high-frequency scalping” may be refused funding. A third article treats microscalping, positions closed “typically under 10 seconds”, and splitting one order into identical orders as grounds for review. A first offence brings a reset and a warning, and later ones bring profit deductions or suspension.

Servers are covered too. “TradeDay does not allow the use of virtual private servers (VPS),” says its VPN and VPS article, and “Using a VPN or VPS to mask the location of the trading” is a prohibited practice. At IP security checks, such as the move to Funded Live, VPN users have to switch off and trade a full day from their registered address.

From Funded Sim to Funded Live

Passing puts you in a Funded Sim account. “You are placed in a simulation account and paid from the simulated profits you make in the account,” TradeDay says on its account types page. The live stage is different in kind: “A funded live account is a trading account that is a sub-account of our master account at our broker. You are given the power of authority to trade over it.”

The two plans take different roads there. Quick Pay pays out of Funded Sim from the first day, with a $250 minimum and no consistency rule, but the split starts low: “Below the $4,000 current profit level, payouts are split 50/50. Above $4,000, the split improves to 80/20 in your favour, but only if the payout still leaves more than $4,000 in current profit in the account after the withdrawal.” The account switches to an intraday trailing drawdown “regardless of the drawdown had on the evaluation”. Then the ceiling: “Every Quick Pay Funded Sim account is reviewed for a move to Funded Live when it reaches $10,000 in gross profit”, and “Any profits above the $10,000 level will be removed and the balance revised back to the threshold” (path to live). In most cases the review ends with a move to Funded Live.

Fast Pass pays 80% in Funded Sim from the start. Each payout needs 5 profitable days (at least $150 each on a 50K) and is capped at half the balance, up to $1,500 on a 50K (payout policy). The move to live is automatic: “Upon a trader’s 5th payout request, the Funded Sim account will transition to a Funded Live account” (route to live). The new account opens at $0 with the same end-of-day drawdown, and you can withdraw once it has grown past a buffer.

On Funded Live, “Withdrawals from Funded Live accounts are subject to a 90/10 profit split, with you keeping 90%.” You can hold up to five Live accounts, you pay CME professional data at $156 a month per exchange plus commissions (funded fees), and losing a Live account starts a three-month cooling-off period.

ROMER’s terms

We run ROMER for traders whose edge is in code. HFT is allowed at every stage, along with any other bot or algo, so an algo can trade far more than 200 times a day, and the exchange’s message limits set the ceiling on its order traffic. Spoofing and other manipulation are banned, and we monitor every order. Discretionary trading is open to you too.

TradeDay bans VPS use. We go the other way and run your algo on our own hardware, placed inside the exchange’s data centre.

Our version of an evaluation comes in two parts, and orders stay simulated through both. Part one wants the profit target reached, loss limits intact, across 3 trading days at minimum. Part two, Verification, asks for the same result on a further 10 trading days or more that part one never touched. Algos that come out best go on to trade our money on the real exchange, where the trader’s share is 80% of profits. Passing makes an algo eligible for funding, which isn’t guaranteed.

Planned pricing, which may change: $149 a month buys the $25K Starter, $249 the $50K Pro and $399 the $100K Elite, and none carries an activation fee. TradeDay’s 50K plans list at $131 to $189 a month, below our Pro plan. The money goes on running your algo at the exchange, on our hardware. Our planned rules give you 6% to make, a trailing 4% to lose and a 2% limit on any one day, where TradeDay has no daily limit at all. TradeDay’s 90% on Funded Live is a bigger share than our 80%.

Which to choose

TradeDay suits discretionary futures traders, and slower bots built in NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView, Jigsaw or Quantower, that trade fewer than 200 times a day and hold positions for more than a few seconds. Fast Pass in particular gives a written, automatic route to a live account.

ROMER suits the strategies TradeDay’s limits stop: more than 200 trades a day, holds measured in seconds, and algos that depend on being close to the exchange.

Quick answers

Does TradeDay allow automated trading?

Yes, on its supported platforms: "To use an automated trading system, you must use one of the platforms we support: NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView, Jigsaw and Quantower." Bots bought from a third party are forbidden, strategies above 200 trades a day are banned, and TradeDay doesn't give traders API access.

Can I use a VPS with TradeDay?

No. Its help centre says "TradeDay does not allow the use of virtual private servers (VPS)", and using a VPN or VPS to mask where you trade from is a prohibited practice. VPN users have to switch it off and trade a full day from their registered address at security checks.

How do I get a Funded Live account at TradeDay?

On Fast Pass the move happens at your 5th payout request. On Quick Pay each Funded Sim account is reviewed when it reaches $10,000 of gross profit, and profit above that level is removed. Funded Live pays 90%, and you pay CME professional data at $156 a month per exchange.

Can I trade news at TradeDay?

Most news, yes. Tier 1 releases such as FOMC, CPI and NFP are off limits: "TradeDay will auto-liquidate all open positions 2 minutes before TradeDay's tier 1 economic data releases, and open markets back up to trade 2 minutes after these releases."
