Take Profit Trader vs ROMER

Short answer

Take Profit Trader suits manual futures traders, with a monthly Test, day-one withdrawals in its simulated PRO account and a live PRO+ stage by invitation. It bans bots and algos on every account. ROMER is built for automated and high-frequency strategies, and you can trade by hand there as well.

How Take Profit Trader’s program works

Take Profit Trader’s program starts with the Test, a futures evaluation billed monthly until you pass or cancel. On the 50K account the Test rules set a $3,000 profit target and a $2,000 trailing drawdown. It is checked at the end of each day and trails your best end-of-day balance until it reaches the starting balance. You need at least 3 trading days, and under its consistency rule “your best trading day must be below 50% of your total net profits”. If one day is too large, the profit target goes up to match. There is “no time limit to reach your profit target”, though the subscription renews each month.

The 50K Test was listed at $170 a month when we collected prices on 27 September 2026, and you pay a $130 activation fee once, when you move to the funded stage.

That stage is the PRO account, and it runs on a simulator. Take Profit Trader is open about this on its home page: “Yes, all PRO accounts are simulated (SIM). Your orders will not go to the exchange”. It also says PRO payouts “come from a combination of collected test fees, tech fees, and shared PRO+ profits when applicable.” You keep 80%, and on a 50K account you can withdraw once the balance passes a $52,000 buffer.

The firm leads with its withdrawal terms. There are no payout windows, no minimum number of profitable days and no maximum withdrawal, and in the firm’s words, “when you make it on day one you can take it on day one.” Payouts go through Plaid to US banks, or PayPal or Wise, and the platforms include NinjaTrader, TradingView, Tradovate and Quantower.

The live stage is PRO+. The firm describes PRO+ accounts as “live accounts that have a $0 margin”, where orders “are actually sent to the exchange from Tradovate”. The split rises to 90%, the drawdown is end-of-day and there is no buffer. Getting there is by invitation, and the upgrade page says “There isn’t a single threshold that determines promotion.” Once you move up, $5,000 of your PRO profit stays frozen while the PRO+ account is active.

Bots, HFT and servers at Take Profit Trader

The rule on automation is the first line of the firm’s Universal Trading Policies: “Automated trading systems, bots, or algorithmic execution tools are not permitted.” Those policies cover Test, PRO and PRO+ alike. The PRO account rules say it again: “We do not allow any automated or bot trading of any kind” and “All trades must be manually executed by the trader.”

With all automation banned, there is no separate HFT rule, but the Sustainable Trading Policy shows how the firm thinks about fills. It lists “Relying on simulation-specific fill inefficiencies” as a higher-risk pattern, and it reviews “trade duration and frequency” among other factors. Its guide to the PRO simulation says “The fills are easier on a trader in a simulated environment”. That is the same concern behind the HFT bans at other prop firms.

Some tools are allowed. Approved trade copiers are permitted “solely for managing accounts owned and controlled by you”. We found no mention of a VPS in the help centre. A VPN is blocked when you register, but the firm says that isn’t “a general prohibition on VPN usage” once your account is set up, provided you don’t route activity through a restricted country.

How ROMER differs

ROMER is our funded-trader program for algorithmic and high-frequency traders.

Bots, algos and HFT are allowed at every stage, and so is trading by hand. We monitor every order, exchange message limits apply, and manipulative trading such as spoofing (placing orders you mean to cancel, to mislead other traders) isn’t allowed. Your algo runs on our hardware inside the exchange’s data centre, so you don’t need a VPS or servers of your own. Our latency design target is under 1 microsecond, against roughly 30 milliseconds for a home connection to a simulator. Both figures are illustrative.

Stage 1 is a simulated evaluation of at least 3 trading days, the same minimum as Take Profit Trader’s Test. Stage 2, Verification, adds at least 10 new trading days in which your algo has to pass again, to show the Stage 1 result wasn’t luck. Together the two stages take at least 13 trading days. Fills are still simulated, and an algo’s orders reach the exchange only once it is funded. After that, the best algos trade our own capital on the real exchange, and the trader, an independent contractor, keeps 80% of real profits. Funding isn’t guaranteed.

Planned pricing, which may change, is $149 a month for a $25K account, $249 for $50K and $399 for $100K, with no activation fee, and the fee covers running your algo on our hardware at the exchange. The planned rules are a 6% profit target, a 4% trailing maximum loss and a 2% daily loss limit.

Which one suits you

If you trade by hand, Take Profit Trader is a good fit. You can pass the Test in 3 trading days, and PRO lets you withdraw from the first day once you clear the buffer. PRO+ then gives manual traders a live account with a 90% split.

If your strategy runs as code, Take Profit Trader rules it out at every stage, however good the payout terms are. ROMER is built for that kind of trader.

Quick answers

Does Take Profit Trader allow bots or algos?

No. Its Universal Trading Policies say "Automated trading systems, bots, or algorithmic execution tools are not permitted", and they apply to Test, PRO and PRO+ accounts. Its PRO rules add that "All trades must be manually executed by the trader."

Is the Take Profit Trader PRO account live?

No. Take Profit Trader says "all PRO accounts are simulated (SIM)" and that orders "will not go to the exchange". PRO+ is the live stage, where orders go to the exchange through Tradovate. It is offered by invitation, at Take Profit Trader's discretion.

Can I use a VPS or VPN with Take Profit Trader?

Its help centre didn't mention a VPS when we searched it on 30 September 2026. A VPN is blocked while you register, and Take Profit Trader says that isn't "a general prohibition on VPN usage" afterwards, although you may not route activity through a restricted country.

Can I copy trades between my own Take Profit Trader accounts?

Yes, with an approved copier such as Tradesyncer, TradeCopia or a platform's own copier tool. Copiers are allowed "solely for managing accounts owned and controlled by you", and copying between different people is banned.

Can I trade by hand at ROMER?

Yes, as well as bots and algos. An order you place by hand goes through our hardware at the exchange, which may make it slightly faster, but it crosses the network from your computer to our servers first. It won't match the speed of an algo running on that hardware.
