HyroTrader vs ROMER

Short answer

HyroTrader suits crypto traders who want to trade perpetuals through Bybit, with API bots allowed and a deposit returned at the first payout. It bans HFT, and its funded accounts are simulated. ROMER suits HFT and latency-sensitive algos, which it runs colocated at the exchange, with a path to real capital.

ROMER’s terms are planned and may change. HyroTrader’s details are from its own pages, checked on the date above; see the sources below.

How HyroTrader works

HyroTrader, a crypto prop firm “founded in 2022”, says it was the first to integrate exchange execution into crypto prop trading in 2023, “connecting traders to Bybit through secure API infrastructure” (about page). You trade USDT perpetual futures on a Bybit demo account, on the Tealstreet terminal using Bybit demo data, or on CLEO, a platform that simulates trades against Binance market data. The platforms FAQ puts the Bybit range at more than 700 pairs and adds that “HyroTrader does not support spot or CFD trading.”

There are two challenges. The one-step asks for a 10% profit target over at least 5 trading days, within a 4% daily drawdown and a 6% maximum loss, with no time limit (trading rules). The two-step asks for 10% and then 5%. Instead of a fee, you place what HyroTrader calls a Refundable Challenge Deposit, which comes back with your first profit split. On 30 September 2026 the home page listed $379 for a $50,000 two-step and $499 for the one-step. If you fail, you lose the deposit, since HyroTrader’s terms let it keep the money when you “do not satisfy the objectives of the Challenge”.

Once funded, you can request your first payout a day after your first funded trade, and payouts “are processed on demand within 12 hours in USDT or USDC, with no withdrawal fees”. The split starts at 80% and rises by 5% every four months of consistent performance, up to 90% (challenges page).

HyroTrader’s one-step page promises “Real Bybit Execution, Not a Simulation”, and the challenge does run through your own Bybit account with live Bybit prices. Its FAQ spells out the account type: “The HyroTrader challenge, verification, and funded accounts operate in a simulated demo environment.” The terms say the same of “every phase of your participation”. The orders go to Bybit’s demo API, and HyroTrader itself notes that “Bybit’s demo environment does not simulate real slippage, liquidity depth, or market impact” (demo rules). Trades it flags for unrealistic fills may count at only 40% toward the target, one reason firms worry about fast strategies on simulators. Real capital comes later: with “consistent performance and a minimum profit of 15%, traders become eligible for a funded trading account with real capital.”

Bots, APIs, HFT and servers

HyroTrader answers the bot question with a clear yes. Its bot FAQ says “Trading bots connected via API are permitted”, covering “Self-developed, custom, and third-party trading bots”, and “Traders may generate their own API key and connect it to their trading setup.” The same page is just as direct about HFT: “High-Frequency Trading (HFT) strategies are not permitted.” It also bans copy trading and outside signals, along with any strategy built to gain an unfair advantage from HyroTrader’s “execution environment, pricing, latency, or risk management mechanisms”.

The platform decides what you can connect. On Bybit, you “can generate your own API key and link it to your custom trading bot”, but the Bybit API answer adds that “using third-party applications is not supported during HyroTrader challenges”. That reads differently from the bot FAQ, so ask support in writing before you run a third-party bot. CLEO is out for automation: it “does not support direct third-party integrations or algorithmic trading through external applications.” The terms also ban “latency arbitrage” and advantages from “queue priority” in the simulated environment, and funded accounts cap total open notional at twice the starting balance.

We found no VPS rule in HyroTrader’s FAQ, trading rules or terms. Your bot runs wherever you host it and reaches Bybit’s demo API over the internet. The terms ban a VPN or proxy used “to conceal or misrepresent your jurisdiction of residence”. We found no hosting or colocation offer for traders.

How ROMER differs

ROMER is our funded-trader program for algorithmic and high-frequency traders. The terms here are planned and may change.

Bots, algos and HFT are allowed at every stage, where HyroTrader bans HFT outright. Spoofing and other manipulative trading aren’t allowed. We monitor every order, and exchange message limits apply. Your algo runs on our own hardware inside the exchange’s data centre, known as colocation, so no VPS or servers of your own are needed. Our latency design target is under 1 microsecond, against roughly 30 milliseconds for a home connection to a simulator. Both figures are illustrative.

Stage 1 is a simulated evaluation of at least 3 trading days. Stage 2, Verification, is there to show the Stage 1 result wasn’t luck: the algo has to pass again over at least 10 new trading days. Fills are still simulated, so the algo’s orders don’t reach the exchange yet. The best algos then trade our own capital on the real exchange, and the trader, an independent contractor, keeps 80% of real profits. Funding isn’t guaranteed. ROMER is built for futures and digital-asset derivatives.

Our planned pricing is monthly, with no activation fee: $149 for the $25K Starter, $249 for the $50K Pro and $399 for the $100K Elite. The fee covers running your algo on our hardware inside the exchange’s data centre.

Who should pick which

HyroTrader suits a crypto perpetuals trader who already knows Bybit, whether they trade by hand or run a bot well below HFT speeds. The Bybit API route is documented, and traders in the US and UK can join. If your bot is third-party software, get written approval before you pay.

ROMER is for the trader whose strategy is HFT or depends on latency, which HyroTrader’s rules exclude, and who wants a path to real orders on a real exchange. If you want a crypto firm that states a VPS rule as well as allowing bots, Velotrade permits both, with its own HFT ban.

Quick answers

Does HyroTrader allow trading bots?

Yes, on Bybit. Its FAQ says "Trading bots connected via API are permitted", and you connect your own Bybit API key. CLEO does not support algorithmic trading through external applications. HyroTrader bans HFT and copy trading.

Is HyroTrader's funded account real capital?

No. HyroTrader says its challenge, verification and funded accounts "operate in a simulated demo environment". Its FAQ says traders with consistent performance and at least 15% profit become eligible for an account with real capital.

Is HyroTrader's deposit refundable?

It is returned with your first profit split if you pass. Under HyroTrader's terms, it keeps the deposit if you don't meet the challenge objectives or if you break the rules.

Does HyroTrader allow a VPS or offer colocation?

We found no VPS rule in its FAQ, trading rules or terms, and no colocation offer. The terms ban a VPN or proxy used to hide your jurisdiction.
