Goat Funded Trader vs ROMER

Short answer

Goat Funded Trader suits traders who want forex CFDs and CME Group futures from one brand, with instant and evaluation accounts on both. Your own bots are allowed on most plans, but HFT is banned throughout, its futures arm bans any VPS and every funded account is simulated. ROMER suits HFT and colocated algos in futures and digital-asset derivatives.

ROMER’s terms are planned and may change. Goat Funded Trader’s details are from its own pages, checked on the date above; see the sources below.

One brand, two rulebooks

Goat Funded Trader sells forex and CFD accounts at goatfundedtrader.com, on MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker, Match-Trader and Volumetrica. Its futures business sits on a separate site, GOAT Funded Futures (GFF), with CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX contracts on NinjaTrader, Tradovate, Quantower and other platforms. Each side has its own help centre, and their rules on bots, servers and copying differ, so it matters which one you buy from.

On the forex side, list prices on 1 October 2026 were $314 for a $50K 1-Step, $308 for the $50K 2-Step GOAT and $358 for the 2-Step Standard. The 1-Step asks for 10% and three days of at least 0.5% profit, inside a static floor at 94% of your starting balance and a 3% daily limit for accounts bought from 1 August 2026. Instant accounts with no evaluation cost $357 (Instant Hero) to $813 (Instant Premium) at $50K. On the evaluation models, rewards come every 14 days at 80%, and the first two are capped at 6% of the account or $10,000, whichever is lower. Whatever the model, “All rewards are subject to a 3% processing fee.”

GFF’s $50K plans cost less. The EOD Challenge lists at $138: a 6% target inside a $2,000 drawdown that trails your end-of-day balance and stops at the starting balance. The 1-Day-Pass-Plan and Flex list at $218, Daily Payouts at $238 and Instant Classic at $554, all with no activation fee. EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan and Flex pay 80%, or 90% with an add-on. Daily Payouts pays 90% from the first payout and lets you request one every 24 hours, up to $1,000 a time at $50K. GFF charges the same 3% fee on payouts.

Bots, HFT and fast trades

On forex accounts, the EA answer is a qualified yes: “Yes, you can use them as long as the EAs comply with the prohibited trading practices rule. However, you are not allowed to use high-frequency trading (HFT) strategies / systems and/or Gold Arbitrage EA.” The EA has to be yours. The prohibited practices page bans any “third-party strategy, Expert Advisor, off-the-shelf strategy or one marketed to pass assessment accounts”, and Goat may ask you to show the code. Passing with an EA and then trading by hand once funded, or the reverse, is also prohibited. Short trades are discounted on funded accounts: “any profit generated from trades that are open for less than 2 minutes (120 seconds) will be considered invalid and removed when a payout is requested.”

GFF splits its plans in two. “On EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan, Flex and Instant Classic, personal automated strategies and EAs are allowed, as long as they are consistent with your trading style and do not exploit system vulnerabilities, latency, or data feed anomalies.” Daily Payouts and Instant Lite are hand-traded only, and the bot answer adds that grid, martingale and high-frequency strategies aren’t allowed there either. Across GFF, “HFT systems, tick scalping, bulk order-entry, and volume inflation are prohibited, and 100+ trades in a single day may trigger a risk review.” Each plan has a holding-time rule as well. EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan and Instant Classic deduct profit from trades closed within 2 minutes, and Flex and Daily Payouts want at least half your profit from trades held longer than a minute.

Servers and copy trading

GFF’s server rule is absolute: “The use of Virtual Private Servers (VPS), cloud-hosted machines, or any form of remote server to access or trade your GFF account is strictly prohibited”, and that covers evaluation and funded accounts alike, along with remote desktop into a machine that isn’t yours. A GFF bot runs on your own computer.

The forex side changed its rule in August. For accounts bought from 12 August 2026, “the use of a VPS (Virtual Private Server) is strictly prohibited” on One Step, Two Step, Instant Premium and Pay Later accounts (IP and access policy). The EA answer says “VPS remains permitted on” Instant GOAT and Instant Hero, and accounts bought before that date aren’t affected. Our VPS rules by firm page compares this with other firms.

Copying follows the same split. The forex signals article opens with “Signal services and copy trading are not permitted on GOAT Funded Trader accounts”, then bans copying from one evaluation to another or into a funded account, and says “Copy trading between funded accounts is allowed.” GFF is looser: “You may copy your own trades across your own GFF accounts, and across accounts you hold elsewhere.” On Daily Payouts, copying is limited to other Daily Payouts accounts.

Simulated funding, and a clause that says otherwise

The forex disclaimer is direct: “GoatFunded Trader accounts are not live trading accounts, they are fully simulated accounts utilizing real market quotes from liquidity providers.” The help centre adds that your trading data goes to “a partnered proprietary trading firm” that “copies trades at their own discretion”. The terms contradict both pages in one sentence: “Such Traders who pass an assessment offered by the Company shall be allocated capital to trade in a live account under the terms of an agreement with Goat Funded Trader.” We found nothing else on the forex site that describes a live account for traders.

GFF says “All trading at GOAT Funded Futures takes place in a simulated environment.” It also describes a Path to Live: “a live brokerage account, trading real capital that we provide”. Simulated accounts that have paid out at least once are combined into one live account, capped at $150K, with a 90/10 split. Who moves across is up to GFF’s risk team, and its eligibility answer says “There is no public payout count, dollar target, or numeric milestone that “unlocks” a live account.” We cover how firms handle this step in can I run my algo from evaluation to live.

How ROMER’s program is set up

Two things a fast futures algo can’t have at GFF are a server near the market and permission to trade at high frequency. We provide both. The algo runs on our hardware inside the exchange’s data centre, and HFT is allowed in both stages and once funded. Bots, algos and trading by hand are all allowed. Hand orders still leave from your own computer, so they don’t share that position next to the exchange. We do forbid spoofing and other manipulation, and every algo has to stay within the exchange’s message limits.

The road to real money is written down. Stage 1, the Evaluation, is simulated and takes at least 3 trading days: hit the profit target without breaking the loss limits. Stage 2, Verification, repeats the test over at least 10 new trading days, still on simulated fills, to show the first pass wasn’t luck. The best algos then trade our own capital on the real exchange, and the trader keeps 80% of real profits. We choose which algos to fund, and funding isn’t guaranteed. ROMER’s markets are futures and digital-asset derivatives.

These terms are planned and may change. The planned price is $149 a month for the $25K Starter, $249 for the $50K Pro and $399 for the $100K Elite, with no activation fee, and it covers running your algo on our hardware at the exchange. The planned rules are a 6% target, a 4% trailing maximum loss and a 2% daily loss limit.

Who each one suits

Goat suits a trader who wants a lot of choice from one brand: forex and futures, instant or evaluation accounts, and on GFF a Daily Payouts plan that pays 90% and takes requests every 24 hours. A futures bot that trades at ordinary speed from your own computer fits GFF’s EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan, Flex or Instant Classic. A forex EA that needs a VPS fits Instant GOAT or Instant Hero.

If your strategy is HFT, neither side of Goat allows it, and GFF won’t let a futures bot run anywhere but your own computer. ROMER is built for that algo, in futures and digital-asset derivatives.

Quick answers

Does Goat Funded Trader allow EAs?

On forex accounts, yes, if the EA follows its prohibited-practice rules and isn't a third-party or off-the-shelf system; it may ask you to prove the code is yours. HFT and gold arbitrage EAs are banned. GOAT Funded Futures allows personal bots on EOD, 1-Day-Pass-Plan, Flex and Instant Classic, but not on Daily Payouts or Instant Lite.

Can I use a VPS with Goat Funded Trader?

Not on GOAT Funded Futures, which bans a VPS, cloud machines and remote servers on evaluation and funded accounts. On the forex side, accounts bought from 12 August 2026 can't use a VPS on One Step, Two Step, Instant Premium or Pay Later. Instant GOAT and Instant Hero still allow one.

Is a Goat Funded Trader funded account real money?

No. Its disclaimer says the accounts "are not live trading accounts", although one clause in its terms speaks of capital in a live account. GOAT Funded Futures is simulated too, and describes a Path to Live chosen by its risk team with no public threshold. Payouts are real money.
