FundingPips vs ROMER

Short answer

FundingPips suits forex traders who want a one-time fee and a choice of reward cycles. It allows full automation only with an EA you wrote, and it bans HFT and VPS use. ROMER suits automated and high-frequency futures and digital-asset strategies, which run on our hardware inside the exchange's data centre.

How FundingPips works

FundingPips sells one-time evaluations on simulated accounts. You trade 41 instruments across forex, metals, indices, energies and two crypto pairs, BTCUSD and ETHUSD (get started). There’s no deposit and no monthly fee.

The main model is 2 Step Standard, traded on MetaTrader 5, cTrader or Match-Trader. The $50K account costs $299, Phase 1 needs 8% and Phase 2 needs 5%, and each phase takes at least three trading days unless you choose the 3% daily loss add-on (2 Step Standard). The maximum loss is 10% of the starting balance and, in FundingPips’ words, “This is a static floor; it never moves.” There’s no time limit, as long as you complete a trade every 30 days. If you want something cheaper and tighter, 2 Step Pro costs $224 at $50K, with a 6% target in both phases, a 6% maximum loss and no minimum trading days (compare models, 2 Step Pro).

Pass, and you get a Master Account and choose how you’re paid: “Weekly 60%, Bi-Weekly 80%, Monthly 100%, or On Demand 90%.” It’s a useful choice. A trader who needs cash quickly can take weekly rewards, and one who can wait keeps the whole profit on the monthly cycle, which adds a 35% consistency score and at least 7 profitable days. On 2 Step Standard the registration fee comes back with your fourth reward. FundingPips is plain about what you’re trading: “Every FundingPips account runs on simulated capital with real cash rewards.” Strong Master Account traders can reach the invite-only Prime Account, which pays daily rewards at 80% and scales up to $2M (Prime Account). Its help centre is thorough, too, with worked examples of how the daily and maximum loss limits are calculated, which makes the rules easier to plan around.

EAs, HFT and servers at FundingPips

FundingPips sorts EAs by who wrote them. Its trading conduct rules allow third-party EAs “only when used strictly as a trade or risk manager”, and using one for anything more can cost you the evaluation or reward and the account. An EA you developed yourself is treated differently: “full automation is permitted with proof of ownership.” FundingPips may accept uncompiled .mq5 or .mq4 files or version-control history as proof, with its Responsible Trading Team deciding what’s enough, but “A compiled binary on its own is not proof.” The $1K Instant account allows third-party EAs, while the Monthly Competition bans EAs of every kind.

HFT sits on a long banned list: “gap trading, high-frequency trading, server spamming, latency arbitrage, toxic trading flow, hedging, long-short arbitrage, reverse arbitrage, tick scalping, server execution exploits, opposite account trading, and churning and burning are not allowed.” The page gives no trade count or hold time that defines HFT, so FundingPips’ own review draws the line.

The server rule is strict. “Connecting to a VPN or VPS while accessing your trading account is not permitted.” FundingPips watches IP activity as well, and if your location changes in a way it finds unrealistic, it may ask for a boarding pass or a live video. In practice, your EA runs on your own computer and your home connection. FundingPips’ trade copier does let you copy your trades out to “an external account from a different prop firm or broker”, which helps if you run the same strategy in more than one place.

How ROMER differs

ROMER is our funded-trader program for algorithmic and high-frequency traders. The terms below are planned and may change.

ROMER is built for futures and digital-asset derivatives. We allow bots, algos and HFT at every stage. Exchange message limits apply, and we monitor every order, because manipulative trading such as spoofing isn’t allowed. Your algo runs on our hardware inside the exchange’s data centre, so you don’t need a VPS or servers of your own. Our latency design target is under 1 microsecond, against roughly 30 milliseconds for a home connection to a simulator. Both figures are illustrative.

Stage 1 is a simulated evaluation of at least 3 trading days. Stage 2 is Verification, where your algo must pass again on at least 10 new trading days. Fills are still simulated there, and the stage is a check that the first pass wasn’t luck. The best algos then trade our own capital on the real exchange, and you keep 80% of real profits as an independent contractor. Funding isn’t guaranteed. That 80% is a share of real market profit, while FundingPips pays its splits on simulated results.

Planned pricing is $149 a month for Starter ($25K), $249 a month for Pro ($50K) and $399 a month for Elite ($100K), with no activation fee. That fee covers running your algo on our hardware at the exchange. The planned rules are a 6% profit target, a 4% trailing maximum loss and a 2% daily loss limit.

Which one to pick

If you trade forex, gold or indices, by hand or with an EA you wrote and can prove is yours, FundingPips is a good fit. You pay once and pick your own payout rhythm. You could trade by hand at ROMER too, but not forex, and our two stages take at least 13 trading days between them.

If your strategy trades at high frequency or has to run on a server, FundingPips’ rules don’t allow it, because they ban both HFT and a VPS. That’s the kind of algo ROMER is built for, in futures and digital-asset derivatives.

Quick answers

Does FundingPips allow EAs?

Partly. Third-party EAs are "permitted only when used strictly as a trade or risk manager". An EA you developed yourself may fully automate your trading, if you can prove you own it with source code, version history or similar evidence. A compiled file alone isn't enough.

Does FundingPips allow HFT?

No. Its trading conduct rules list high-frequency trading as not allowed, along with gap trading, server spamming, latency arbitrage, tick scalping and other practices.

Can I use a VPS with FundingPips?

No. FundingPips says "Connecting to a VPN or VPS while accessing your trading account is not permitted." It also monitors IP changes and may ask for proof of your location.

Is the FundingPips Master Account live?

No. FundingPips says "Every FundingPips account runs on simulated capital with real cash rewards." The Master Account is the simulated funded stage, and the invite-only Prime Account comes after it.
