# Maven Trading vs ROMER

> Maven Trading suits hand traders who want cheap forex and CFD challenges with no time limit. Its FAQ bans EAs outright, one clause in its terms allows bots with approval, and it treats HFT as cheating. Every Maven account is a demo. ROMER suits automated futures and digital-asset strategies, HFT included, with real capital for the best algos.

## What Maven sells

Maven Trading sells one-time challenges on simulated CFD accounts, traded on MetaTrader 5 or Match-Trader. You get forex, commodities, indices, crypto and digital ETFs, though "Metatrader is not available for United States or Canada". The range of products is wide. Besides 1-Step, 2-Step and 3-Step challenges there are Instant accounts with no evaluation, a Mini account that gives you 24 hours to make a single payout, a [Buy Now, Pay Later](https://maventrading.com/buy-now-pay-later) challenge that costs $5 to start, the Omo 2-Step, and [Prediction Markets](https://maventrading.com/prediction-markets) challenges on event contracts that follow Kalshi or Polymarket.

On 1 October 2026 the [pricing page](https://maventrading.com/pricing) listed the $50K 2-Step at $220 and the $50K 1-Step at $170. The smallest accounts are $2K, from $13 for a 3-Step. The [2-Step](https://maventrading.com/challenges/2-step) asks for 8% and then 5%, inside an 8% static maximum loss and a 4% daily limit, and each phase needs three profitable days of at least 0.5%. The 1-Step asks for 8% inside a 5% limit that trails your highest equity. Neither has a time limit, but 30 calendar days without a trade breaches the account. The fee comes back with your third withdrawal.

Funded traders keep 80% and can withdraw every 10 business days. The Mini and Prediction Markets pay 70%. Two limits shape larger payouts. Once your profit passes $5,000, no single day or trade may make up more than half of a payout cycle's profit. Separately, the [FAQ](https://maventrading.com/faqs) gives each trader "a maximum withdrawal of $10,000 per 30-day rolling cycle" and says "If you are trading on multiple accounts, your accounts will be treated as the same account." Maven's [risk disclosure](https://maventrading.com/risk-disclosure) is frank about the odds: "the likelihood of successfully executing a withdrawal in our simulation is less than 2.5% per transaction".

## EAs: the FAQ and the terms disagree

The FAQ allows no exceptions: "EAs are not permitted under any circumstances across all our platforms." Maven's [day trading rules](https://maventrading.com/day-trading-rules) say the same and spell out the cost: "Using an EA will prevent you from passing your challenge, and repeated use may lead to account suspension." The FAQ's Prediction Markets section lists "No use of EAs or scripts" among the rules for that product too.

The [terms and conditions](https://maventrading.com/terms-and-conditions) read differently in one clause: "Using Expert Advisors (EAs), bots, or other automated systems is prohibited unless you have received prior approval from us." A later clause in the same document goes back to the blanket ban, and we found no page that says how to ask for approval or what might qualify. If you plan to ask, get the answer in writing before any automation touches the account, because two of Maven's three rule pages say the answer is no.

## HFT, scalping, copying and servers

Maven files HFT under cheating: "Using The Demo Trader inefficiencies such as High-Frequency Trading, Toxic Trading Order Flow, Long/Short arbitrage, reverse arbitrage, tick scalping, and server execution." The terms add latency arbitrage and server flooding to the list of toxic trading.

Fast hand trading has a limit as well, and it's a tight one: "Excessive Scalping: Holding 50% or more of your trades for less than a minute." The Mini and the funded stage of the Omo 2-Step set a 150-second minimum hold, and on the Mini "any trades held beneath this time will not count towards profits." Other firms set the line elsewhere, and our page on [what counts as HFT](/help/what-counts-as-hft-at-a-prop-firm) sets out where.

Copying another person's trades costs both of you the account: "You cannot copy trade from another individual, if found, both users will be breached." The pages don't say whether you may copy between your own Maven accounts, and the Prediction Markets rules add "No account mirroring". We found no VPS rule in the FAQ, terms, day trading rules or product pages, and no API access beyond the two trading platforms.

## Every account is a demo

Maven says so more than once. In the FAQ: "A simulated account is what you will receive after passing our evaluation stages given you have met our requirements. This is traded in a demo environment." The terms raise it as "A CRITICAL NOTICE": "all accounts provided to our clients are demo accounts with simulated funds". The one confusing line is in the FAQ's news rule, which calls the funded stage "Live accounts", but nothing on Maven's site moves a trader on to real capital. Payouts are real money calculated from simulated profit, a model we explain in [sim funded vs live funded](/help/sim-funded-vs-live-funded).

## Where ROMER parts ways

ROMER, our funded-trader program, needs no approval for automation. Bots, algos and HFT are allowed in both stages and on the funded account, and so is trading by hand. What we prohibit is manipulation, such as spoofing, and the exchange's own message limits apply. The algo runs on our hardware inside the exchange's data centre. Orders you place by hand still start on your own computer, so they don't get that speed.

The markets are different too. ROMER is for futures and digital-asset derivatives, so a forex or gold strategy built for Maven would need new markets. Stage 1, the Evaluation, is simulated: reach the profit target inside the loss limits over at least 3 trading days. Stage 2, Verification, asks the algo to do it again over at least 10 new trading days, with fills still simulated. The best algos then trade our own capital on the real exchange, and the trader keeps 80% of real profits. Funding isn't guaranteed.

Our terms are planned and may change. The plan is $149 a month for a $25K Starter account, $249 for the $50K Pro and $399 for the $100K Elite, with no activation fee, a 6% profit target, a 4% trailing maximum loss and a 2% daily loss limit. The monthly fee covers running your algo on our hardware at the exchange.

## Which one fits

Maven is a cheap way to trade forex, gold or indices by hand with no deadline. The 3-Step keeps each target to 3%, the small sizes cost little, and the challenge fee comes back with the third withdrawal. Plan for the $10,000 ceiling per 30 days if you grow, and expect every account to remain a demo.

A strategy that lives in code has no clear home at Maven, since its FAQ rules out the exception its terms describe. ROMER is built for that strategy, as long as it trades futures or digital-asset derivatives.

## Quick answers

**Does Maven Trading allow EAs or bots?**
Its FAQ and day trading rules say no: "EAs are not permitted under any circumstances across all our platforms." One clause in its terms allows "Expert Advisors (EAs), bots, or other automated systems" with "prior approval", but a later clause repeats the ban. Get any approval in writing before you run automation.

**Does Maven Trading allow HFT or scalping?**
HFT is on its list of cheating, with tick scalping, latency arbitrage and server flooding. Maven also limits fast trading by hand: holding 50% or more of your trades for less than a minute counts as excessive scalping. Mini accounts and Omo funded accounts need every trade held for at least 150 seconds.

**Is a Maven Trading funded account real money?**
No. Maven's terms say "all accounts provided to our clients are demo accounts with simulated funds". Payouts are real money, at 80% of simulated profit and capped at $10,000 per trader per 30-day cycle. We found no route from a Maven account to real capital.
